Nurse Resume Templates

Nursing CVs are screened by people who need to verify clinical safety fast. Licence type, units, patient ratios and specialty certifications have to be findable in seconds. A document that buries the licence under a career summary slows that check down.

These nurse resume templates produce a clean single-column document that hospital applicant tracking systems can parse, with clinical details in the order a nurse recruiter expects.

What to look for in a Nurse resume template

The right template for this field is the one that puts the evidence a nurse screen checks first in a document a parser can still read. Style is secondary.

  • A licence and certifications block above experience — type, jurisdiction, expiry.
  • Role entries that can hold unit type, bed count, patient ratio and acuity.
  • A skills list grouped by procedures and systems you are signed off on, not by soft skills.
  • No decorative medical icons. They do not help a parser, and clinical managers do not need them.

Match the market

How to choose a Nurse resume template

  • Clinical Nurse is the purpose-built layout: licence first, then wards, patient groups and clinical systems.
  • Healthcare Pro is the broader clinical option used across nursing and allied health.
  • Nordic Minimal, Heritage Classic and Pure Minimal are the quiet hospital-ATS-safe choices.

What belongs on the page

What to include in a Nurse resume

Licence first

Type, jurisdiction, status. Number and expiry follow local practice — some employers ask for the number only at offer.

Unit and ratios

"1:4 on a 32-bed acute medical unit" or "180 attendances a day in ED" is the clearest proxy for the acuity you can handle.

Current certifications only

BLS, ACLS, PALS, IV therapy — with expiry. An expired BLS on a nursing CV is a genuine shortlisting risk.

Systems

Epic, Cerner or the named record. Write the product. "EHR experience" often misses the filter.

How to create your Nurse resume

  1. Start with Clinical Nurse or Healthcare Pro

Licence and unit details are already in the right place.

  2. Fill credentials before the chronology

A recruiter verifying safety will not hunt through page two.

  3. Describe each role by unit, ratio and acuity

Then two or three bullets on precepting, documentation, incidents or quality work.

  4. Export and confirm licence text is selectable

Then send. Do not photograph a paper licence into the CV.

Questions

FAQ

Should my nursing licence number go on the resume template?

Practice varies. Many recruiters want type, jurisdiction and expiry on the document and the number at offer. Follow the employer's application guidance.

How do I describe patient ratios?

State them plainly. Ratios are the clearest available proxy for acuity and workload, and clinical managers read them immediately.

Do expired certifications hurt a nursing application?

They can, because several are mandatory. List only current credentials with expiry dates, and renew anything lapsed before you apply.

Should student placements stay on the template?

Yes early in your career, with named units and hours. Compress them once you have two or more years of qualified practice.
